ASFINAG is the customer-funded operator and constructor of motorways and dual carriages in Austria and offers its customers a safely developed road network, which is serviced and monitored 365 days a year. The ASFINAG company philosophy includes the provision of simple and user-friendly toll systems and continuously-updated traffic information on all channels, as well as operating in an economically and ecologically sustainable manner. Founded in 1982 as a federally owned company, ASFINAG now maintains more than 2,200 kilometres of high-level road network.

Products and services

ASFINAG is one of the leading infrastructure providers by international comparison. The company invests around a billion Euros in the new construction and maintenance of the network per year. With regard to construction, there is a strong focus on increased tunnel safety. ASFINAG either builds additional second tunnels with top safety technology or it renovates existing tunnels.

Constantly well serviced routes and the latest traffic control systems are the key objectives for the operation of the Austrian motorways and dual carriages. In this respect, ASFINAG always has the best services for its customers in mind. The product portfolio ranges from innovative products, like the digital vignette and the App “Unterwegs”, through to the latest information channels at its rest areas.

Under the motto ‘Click or Stick’, ASFINAG has offered a digital vignette in addition to the toll sticker since November 2017. The ASFINAG App “Unterwegs” provides up-to-the-minute traffic information in 14 languages. Drivers are also well informed about the traffic situation, congestion or road works near their current location by the integrated “ASFINAG Kompagnon”.

51 ASFINAG rest areas invite drivers to take a rest along the high-level road network. There are now info points at these rest areas. Safety tips and real-time information on the traffic situation, closures, weather or road works along the route can be seen on touchscreen LED monitors.
