With a global market share of 38 %, SMC is the market leader worldwide in drive and control technology for pneumatic and electrical systems. High-level performance, customer-specific solutions, innovative products and customized services make SMC an internationally leading partner in the industry.

Research and Development play an important role in the process. More than 2,000 technicians and engineers are working on new solutions in five international research centers in Japan, USA, China and Europe. Among others, the SMC laboratory was where micro-pneumatics was invented, innovations for high-vacuum applications were developed and highly resistant PFA/PTFE products were created. To ensure the innovative edge, more than 138m Euro are invested in Research and Development each year.

A dense sales network and regional competence centers with sales experts and engineers ensure best consultancy and support at the customers’ site – all across Austria.

At the Korneuburg site which is also the headquarters of 14 countries in CEE, SMC pools its expertise along the entire value added chain with local production, technology center with design, prototyping, testing, training center, and a CEE-warehouse. Regional offices in Graz, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, and Vorchdorf guarantee short distances and high flexibililty in all Austrian regions. A unique advantage for customers: they have one contact person locally at their site – from the layouting to the implementation of an application. All project work, testing and quality checks are done at the Korneuburg technology center. Finally, local production is enabling swift realization.

In 2014, SMC further strengthened its presence in Austria and nearly doubled its local production and CEE warehouse facilities in Lower Austria by expanding the Korneuburg headquarters.
